Donderdag 13 januari

12:30 – 14:00 Panel 1: Sounds Like Manchester
Panelleden: Ruth Daniel (Fat Northerner, co-founder Un-Convention), Graham Massey (producer/composer), Fiona Daniel (The Whip), Peter Parker (Fingathing)
Moderator: John Robb (Goldblade)

Manchester: the city where it all began, where it all happened and where it still happens today! Who were the first and who started revolutions? And what happens nowadays? A handful of interesting people will share their experiences, and give their insight into the music industry.

14:30 – 15:45 Panel 2: Dutch Explorers
Panelleden: Susanne Clermonts (Krause), Kimberly van der Velden (Daily Bread), Martijn van Sonderen (Noisia), Lance LaBreche (Rocket Garage)
Moderator: John Robb

It’s all about Dutch acts and experiences in this panel. How do Dutch bands get successful on foreign ground? What steps did they take, who helped them out, and do they have any tips and tricks for fellow musicians?

16:00 – 17:00 Panel 3: Video Killed the Radio Star
Panelleden: Victor Ponten (Habbekrats), Wouter Stoter (Comrad), Erik Kross (MTV Networks)
Moderator: Henk Kanning (KinkFM)

And YouTube killed the video star. These days it seems like all we see on music video channels are reality series. With the existence of YouTube, is it now more important to create an exciting music video? What is a good music video? How does a video match with a song? Here we’ll be looking at best practices for making great music videos.

Vrijdag 14 januari

11:30 – 12:30 Workshop 'What’s Your Story?'

Saskia Troccoli and Rutger Middendorp

Every artist has a story that makes them interesting and unique. But not many use this story consciously for their branding, interviews, songs, concepts, etc. Through different examples Rutger Middendorp and Saskia Troccoli will show how you can use a story, and the benefits you can achieve from this.

11:30 – 12:30 Panel 4: Do It Together: Music, Collectivity and Hybrid Economies
Panelleden: Mathijn den Duif (Kytopia), Manne van der Zee (Wicked Jazz Sounds), Mark Gademan (Habek), Leroy Rey (Wicked Jazz Sounds)
Moderator: Kristin McGee (University of Groningen)

In today’s economic cultural climate, artists are learning that working together, sharing resources, rehearsal space, fanbases and new media are better alternatives than seeking big budget contracts with labels. Music collectives are changing their goals and seeking to work within local communities, yet communicate with similar grassroots driven collectives in other European cities. The panelists will talk about their experiences working collectively in both digital and physical landscapes, sharing their insights into creativity and financial remuneration in today’s hybrid economy (Lessig).

13:00 – 14:30 Panel 5: Needle in a Haystack
Panelleden: Farid Benmbarek (Top Notch), Joep Beving (Massive Music), Ferry Roseboom (Excelsior Recordings), Tijs van Liemt (3FM/Serious Talent), Jeff Thompson (Fat Northerner)
Moderator: Howard Monk (The Local)

These days everybody is an artist with a MySpace profile. Making a decent recording of your music is relatively cheap. But writing a great song is just as hard as it was 20 years ago. How do you get on the radar of people who can help you make your next move? How do scouts find what they are looking for? This panel is here to find out.

14:45 – 16:30 Panel 6: On tour: Highway to Hell?
Panelleden: Arjo Klingens (LaLaLaManagement), Joris van Welsen (Harmonie Boekingen), Leon Caren (Subbacultcha!), Fabricio Nobre (Monstro Discos)
Moderator: Howard Monk (The Local)

So you want world domination. You want to get booked and tour with your band all over the world. Sounds good, but how do you get there? These nomads will tell you how to get booked and how to keep your fans close.
